Who we are
Isaar (ایثار) is a free blood-donation service, a project by Hamdard Welfare Foundation. You can contact us at isaarapp@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Your account: name, mobile number or email, and a 4-digit PIN. Your PIN is stored only in scrambled (hashed) form by Google Firebase; nobody at Isaar can see it.
- If you register as a donor: blood group, gender, birth year, that you weigh at least 50 kg, city and area, optionally your location, and when you last donated. We use gender only to apply the safe gap between donations.
- If you request blood: the hospital, blood group, component, units, when it is needed, exchange and pick-and-drop options, the patient's first name, optional notes (for example the reason), and the attendant's name and mobile number.
- Pledges and donations: who pledged to which request and whether the donation was confirmed.
- Your device: a push-notification address so we can send you alerts, if you allow notifications.
- Hospitals you add on the map: the name and location.
Who sees what
- A request's public part (blood group, units, hospital, city, timing, exchange and pick-and-drop) is visible to people signed in to Isaar, so donors can find it. It never includes names or phone numbers.
- The patient's first name, notes and the attendant's contact are visible only to the family who posted the request, donors who have pledged to it, and Isaar administrators.
- A donor's phone number stays private unless the donor chooses to share it. By default the donor calls the family.
- When you share a request as a message or picture, you choose what you share and with whom.
- Isaar administrators can see accounts and requests to prevent fake requests and requests for money.
How we use it
- To show donors the requests their blood group can help, and to alert matching donors nearby.
- To check donor eligibility (age, weight and rest period) so we don't ask people who shouldn't donate yet.
- To let families and donors contact each other once a donor pledges.
- To keep Isaar safe: blocking people who ask for money, post fake requests or misuse the service.
We do not sell, rent or trade your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Where your data is stored
Isaar runs on Google Firebase (database in the asia-south1 region, Mumbai). Alerts are sent through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and processed by a small server on Cloudflare. Maps use OpenStreetMap, which receives your device's internet address when map images load. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms.
Keeping and deleting data
- You can delete your account at any time in the app: Menu → Delete my account. This removes your profile, your requests' private details and your pledges.
- Requests can be closed by the family at any time and expire after 72 hours if not renewed.
- You can also email us to ask what we hold about you, or to delete it.
Health information
Blood group, donation dates and request notes can be sensitive. Please share only what's needed. Isaar is not a medical service and does not keep medical records.
Age
Isaar is meant for adults. Blood donors must be aged 18 to 59. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to use Isaar for you.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update this page and the date at the top. Important changes will also be shown in the app.
